I visited the Beijing Universal Resort for the first time this week and it was AWESOME.
For some background: Universal Studios Beijing Resort (UBR) opened in September of 2021 in Beijing and includes the Universal Studios Beijing theme park, two resort hotels and Universal CityWalk Beijing.
I wanted to share tips and advice for navigating the park and what not to miss when you go. For the usual ticket information, I recommend visiting the Universal Beijing Resort Official Website.

Tips Before You Go to Beijing Universal Resort:
- Download the Universal Beijing app! It has updated live wait times for the rides so you know how long it will take in line.
- Wear good walking shoes – you will be TIRED!
- Pack snacks if you want to save money, but you can buy food and drinks everywhere in the park.
- Follow the updates about the COVID epidemic prevention and control.
- The ride attractions are mostly in CHINESE (such as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey), but if you don’t speak Chinese you will still enjoy the park and be able to read signs and instructions in English.

How To Get To Beijing Universal:
The Universal Park is in Tongzhou District of Beijing, which is far to the southeast of the city center. If you are visiting Beijing, this is important to keep in mind, as it may take you 1-2 hours to arrive depending on where in the city you are coming from (if you’re not staying in a hotel nearby the park).
- Metro: Take the Batong Line 1 or Line 7 to the Universal Resort station of Beijing Subway. It leads out right at the entrance of the park.
- Didi or Taxi: You can also just take a Didi or Taxi to Universal (Chinese name: 环球影城).

Must Dos for Beijing Universal Resort:
There are 7 Themed parks in the Universal Beijing Resort. Depending on what you’re interested in, you’ll be able to find a huge variety of ride and entertainment options! Here is a quick video of everything I did:
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Try Butterbeer and all the other treats inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride is excellent as well)

Transformers: Metrobase
If you’re a roller coaster fan, definitely ride the Transformer Decepticoaster – we rode 3 times and it hits that big roller coaster fix! There is also a great 3D ride, Transformers: Battle For The AllSpark that we really enjoyed!

Minion Land
We didn’t spend much time here, we just walked through when the parade came by near the park closing time. But if you have younger kids this is the place to go!

Waterworld Stunt Show in Beijing
Catch the epic Water World show! My amazing action actress friend Myra (@myra_m1003 on Instagram) is one of the main female action stars in it. Depending on the day you go you might see her! It’s a 20 minute show, and make sure you get there more than 30 minutes in advance if you want a good seat.

Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood has some great shops and restaurants and is the opening area to walk through. This is me at the end of the day utterly exhausted!

Jurassic World Isla Nublar
Do the Jurassic World Adventure Ride! The Trex animatronics scared the bejeezus out of me (in a good way). Jurassic World 3 just came out this summer, so it was fun to celebrate that. (There is also a coaster here, but sadly it was closed the day we went).

Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness
Cool off inside the KungFu Panda area – it’s a giant, enclosed area blasting AC and is great for a midday break to cool off from the heat. We also stopped for a delicious bowl of noodles at one of the restaurants inside.

Universal CityWalk Beijing
Universal CityWalk acts as the gateway to Universal Beijing’s theme parks, filled with stores and restaurants such as Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Red Brick Oven, Peet’s coffee and famous Chinese brands like Grandma’s Home. Save room for the deserts at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium in City Walk (we didn’t and we regret it). Their food is also okay, but the deserts are the main attraction there!

Facilities Inside the Park:
The facilities are really nice: bathrooms everywhere, lots of big AC areas to cool off, and even water fountains all around! 10/10 would recommend checking the park out!

Where to stay:
There are two hotels next to/inside the park: the Universal Studio Grand Hotel and the Nuo Resort Hotel.

Similarities to Universal Orlando
The park has many of the same rides, restaurants, and themed areas as the Orlando Universal Park, like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, City Walk, and Jurassic World, which was a fun throwback to when I was in Orlando 11 years ago. But it also has some of its own unique parts and made for an awesome day out!
Visit the Beijing Universal Studios Theme Park:
Overall, it’s definitely worth a trip out to do if you’re in Beijing (mixed in with some of Beijing’s other cultural attractions too, of course).
