Turning 30 in China: 8 Years Abroad

,

I just turned 30.

I’ve been living abroad since I was 22, and it’s been nearly 8 years of being an expat outside of my home country.

It hasn’t always been easy. It’s challenging. There are hard days.  You miss lots of life. Birthdays, holidays, events.

But it’s helped shape me, mold me, grow me. And it’s been so worth it.

It’s been several moves and several job changes, finding friends, finding communities, finding love.

I don’t know if 22 year old me would’ve ever guessed what was in store, and where I’d be on my 30th birthday.

I’m excited to say goodbye to my 20s and see what my 30s will bring!
