How To Hire a Driver for a Day Trip in Beijing

If you’re planning a trip to Beijing, hiring a private driver for a day trip is a great option to consider! While Beijing has a great public transportation system, including metro, buses, taxis, and ride-hailing apps, there are times when hiring a driver for a trip is more convenient.

I’ve hired drivers on multiple occasions in Beijing for trips to the Great Wall, and having a driver offers convenience and flexibility. You can plan your own itinerary, and not get stuck waiting for buses.

If you’re seeking a recommendation or want to connect with a local Beijing driver, I have a service in Beijing I can connect you with! I’ve booked several trips with this company, and they will help arrange a car for you according to the destination you want to visit and how many people are with you.

You can add my WeChat below and I will share the contact info with you.

Note: Car Service – Not An English Tour Guide Service

Just a heads-up though: this service will just help arrange a car for your trip. And while these drivers are great at navigating the city and ensuring you get where you need to be on time, they’re not your go-to for an in-depth tour guide experience. Many Beijing drivers do not speak English. Think of them as your trusty wheels for the day, but I recommend using a translation app if your Chinese is not very good.

If you are seeking an English tour guide experience, this car service won’t be for you.

Destinations to Explore

Here’s a list of popular places that you can arrange to visit when renting a driver for a day trip in Beijing:

  1. Great Wall Excursions:
  2. Historical Sites:
  3. Natural Wonders:
    • Cuandixia Village
    • Longqingxia Gorge
    • Shilin Gorge (UFO Glass Viewing Platform)
  4. Other Trips/ Half Day / Full Day Arrangements: Other sites can be arranged, or you can choose to combine several locations for a half day/full day driver rental.

Understanding the Pricing of Renting a Driver in Beijing

The cost of renting a driver in Beijing varies based on several factors.

  • Distance: Longer trips may incur higher costs.
  • Group Size: Whether you’re traveling solo or with a group, prices can vary.
  • Vehicle Size: Larger vehicles or luxury cars might have a different price range.

Depending on these factors, your trip might be around 500 RMB – 1000 RMB ($70 USD – $141 USD). This is just a rough estimate, however. Once you contact the driver, he’ll give you a quote that will be accurate for your trip.

Add my WeChat below and I can share the contact with you. Please write “Beijing city driver” in your friend request so I know why you’re adding me.

Visiting Shanghai as well? I can connect you with a Shanghai driver service for day trips to Shanghai’s nearby water towns like Wuzhen, Tonglin Zhujiajiao, and more!
